Peptide
Short chains of amino acids that act as building blocks of proteins such as collagen, elastin and keratin. When applied topically, peptides act as little messengers, triggering skin cells to perform specific functions such as building collagen and elastin. Without peptides, skin is less intact and less ‘bounce’.
Bakuchiol
A natural, plant-derived alternative to a retinoid or retinol, that helps improve the turnover of skin cells and stimulates collagen synthesis. Bakuchiol has similar properties but is gentler on skin, so the idea is you get the perks (smoother, brighter skin) without the pitfalls (redness, irritation).
Emollient
Smoothes and softens the skin by helping to repair cracks in the skin barrier, thus preventing water loss; acts as a lubricating agent in products.
Osmolytes
They occur naturally to play an active role in water regulation and help to optimize skin health. Keratinocytes respond by increasing production of osmolyte transporters on their cell membrane, which results in increased uptake of osmolytes. This increased uptake restores cell hydration.
Ceramides
Ceramides function as the mortar between the bricks that seals the wall together so it forms a working barrier. That barrier keeps the moisture in and bad things, such as germs and irritants, out,
